Truffle ceremony for people who feel stuck in low mood and depression

A truffle ceremony is not a treatment for depression, and we don't promise improvement. If you feel low, see your GP first. At Stars Frequencies in Amsterdam some people come who, alongside their own support, are looking for room to rest and reflect. Whether that fits right now, you discuss honestly in a free intro call.

Truffle ceremony for depression: the honest story first

Low mood can start small. You feel less like doing things. Plans feel heavy. You withdraw. After a while it colours everything, even the things that used to make you happy.

You may have read about research into psilocybin in clinics. That research is done with a medical team, strict selection and guidance by clinicians, and it's still very much ongoing. A truffle ceremony is something else: a guided day for rest and reflection, not a treatment. Don't mix the two up.

Have you felt low for a long time, is it hard to get through the day, or do you have thoughts about death? Contact your GP. In the Netherlands you can call 113 (free on 0800-0113), or 112 in an emergency.

What people often recognise

  • Everything takes more energy than it used to
  • You feel little, or mostly grey
  • You withdraw from contact
  • You know something needs to change, but not where to start
  • You have (had) help and are looking for another way in alongside it
The point of view

Letting go isn't a condition. It's a result. When you feel low, you've often had to do enough already. A ceremony isn't an assignment to get better. It's a day on which nothing is required.

Who is a truffle ceremony for depression for, and who isn't it for?

A good fit if

  • You have support from your GP or psychologist and feel stable at the moment
  • You're looking for a calm, guided day for reflection, without expectations
  • You want to hear honestly beforehand whether it fits

Not a good fit if

  • You have thoughts about death or a severe depression: call 113 or your GP
  • You use medication that doesn't combine with a ceremony (see the safety page)

Which health situations rule a ceremony out, you can read on the page about safety and contraindications.

How the day begins

Landing in your body, without commands

You arrive calmly. Rosa leads the meditation and plays the singing bowls live in the room. Your mind gets something to follow and your body can settle. Meditation and sound healing are part of every ceremony, private and duo ceremonies too. You don't have to let go of anything before you're ready.

On a day when everything feels heavy, Stars Frequencies starts with nothing you have to do. You lie or sit, Rosa leads the meditation and the singing bowls sound through the room. There's no goal for this morning, other than being there.

When it gets intense

What Rosa does when it gets heavy during the ceremony

A difficult moment can happen. You're not alone with it. Rosa stays in the room for the whole ceremony and there is always an emergency protocol. You can talk, move and ask Rosa to come and sit beside you. Difficult moments are part of it; they're not a sign that something is going wrong.

Sadness can come up, or emptiness. That's part of it, and you're not alone with it. Rosa stays in the room, sits beside you if you want her to and helps you allow the moment without fixing it.

“At the hardest moment, Rosa stayed beside me.”

Beforehand

Intro call and screening: a conversation first

Every ceremony starts with a free 30-minute intro call. Rosa asks about your medication, your health and what feels scary to you. If a ceremony doesn't fit right now, she honestly says no. The amount is tailored to you together in the intro call.

In the intro call Rosa asks how you're doing, what support you have and which medication you use. With a severe depression or thoughts about death, a ceremony isn't responsible. She'll tell you that, and point you towards help.

“The intro call put me at ease right away.”

Merel, website review, translated from Dutch

Questions

Questions about a truffle ceremony for depression

Psilocybin ceremony for anxiety and depression in the Netherlands: is that what this is?

No. A truffle ceremony at Stars Frequencies is a guided day for rest and reflection, not a treatment for depression or anxiety, and we don't promise improvement. Research with psilocybin happens in clinics, with a medical team. If you feel low, your GP is the first step; with thoughts about death, call 113 or 112.

What is the difference between a truffle ceremony and clinical research with psilocybin?

Clinical research with psilocybin is done with a medical team, strict selection and clinicians who support participants for weeks. A truffle ceremony is something else: a guided day for rest and reflection, without a medical claim. Stars Frequencies does not offer therapy and is not an alternative to medical care.

Can I take part if I use antidepressants?

You always discuss that in the intro call. Some medicines don't combine with a ceremony, with others the effect can be different. Never stop your medication on your own. The safety page lists the situations that rule a ceremony out.

What if I lose control during the ceremony?

You don't lose consciousness: you know where you are, you can talk, move and ask Rosa to come and sit beside you. For people who have felt low for a long time, letting go on command is often the hardest part. So we don't ask for it. Meditation and sound healing give your body something to rest on, and Rosa stays in the room for the whole ceremony. Letting go isn't a condition here. If it happens, it's a result.

What does a truffle ceremony at Stars Frequencies cost, and how long is the day?

A group ceremony costs €295 per person, with up to 8 participants. A private ceremony costs €495; if you come as two, you pay €891 together. The day lasts about 7 hours and always includes meditation and sound healing. You start with a free 30-minute intro call.

A ceremony is not a replacement for medical or psychological care.
