The truffle ceremony experience: what happens, step by step

By Rosaupdated 6 min read

The truffle ceremony experience at Stars Frequencies in Amsterdam follows a fixed sequence: arriving and settling in, an opening with an intention, meditation and sound healing, the ceremony itself, a slow return and a closing. The day takes about 7 hours, Rosa is in the room for the whole ceremony, and you join a small group of at most 8 people (€295 per person) or a private ceremony (€495).

The truffle ceremony experience at a glance

If you like to know what you're walking into, an overview helps. Not to script the experience in advance, because it unfolds differently for everyone, but so you know what's happening around you. For people who run their lives from their heads, that alone often brings a lot of calm.

A ceremony at Stars Frequencies has these phases:

  • Beforehand: a free 30-minute intro call with screening, and your own preparation at home.
  • Arriving and settling in: time to arrive, and an opening where you share your intention.
  • The ceremony itself: you take the truffles as a calm ritual, and the experience follows.
  • Meditation and sound healing: a fixed part of every ceremony that quiets your head and brings you into your body.
  • A slow return: the experience gradually softens.
  • Closing: sharing what you want to share, then heading home quietly.

We deliberately don't list clock times here. The pace of the day moves with the group, and Rosa shares the practical times with you. Everything about the day, the dates and the prices is on the page about the truffle ceremony in Amsterdam.

Before the day: intro call and preparation

In a way, a ceremony starts weeks before, with the intro call. It's free and takes 30 minutes. Rosa asks about your health, your medication and why you're considering a ceremony. You ask all your questions. If a ceremony isn't responsible for you right now, she'll say so honestly.

In the intro call we tune the amount to you together. After that you prepare at home: what you eat, how you phrase your intention and what to bring. It's all on the preparation page.

Arriving and settling in

On the day itself there's no rush. You arrive in a calm room with singing bowls, and you're given time to actually arrive. Many people notice their nerves easing a little here, simply because nothing is being asked of them.

Then there's an opening in a circle. Everyone briefly shares an intention for the day: something you hope to see, feel or understand. There's no right or wrong intention. I want to see what's there is an intention too.

“The group was small and felt really good from the start. Nothing was forced, and precisely because everyone was so absorbed in their own journey, I wasn't distracted from mine.”
Martijn · Website, translated from Dutch

Meditation and sound healing: always part of it

Meditation and sound healing with singing bowls are a fixed part of every ceremony, in the group and in private or duo ceremonies too. They give your head something to follow and help your body settle.

That isn't decoration. For someone used to handling everything with their head, it's a bridge: you don't have to let go all at once, you get calmer. The view at Stars Frequencies: letting go is not a condition. It is a result. How sound and ceremony fit together is explained in truffle ceremony with sound healing.

What happens during a truffle ceremony?

During a truffle ceremony you take the truffles as part of a calm ritual, then lie or sit in stillness while the effects gradually come on, accompanied by music and sound. Rosa is in the room for the whole ceremony.

What happens next differs from person to person. Participants describe their thoughts slowing down, emotions or memories surfacing, seeing images or feeling their body differently. Sometimes it's mostly quiet and soft. You don't have to do anything, understand anything or achieve anything.

If it gets hard for a while

A difficult moment can happen. Fear, sadness or restlessness may come up. That doesn't mean something is going wrong. Rosa comes and sits with you when you ask or when she sees it's hard, and helps you not to push it away. There's more on this in hesitating about a truffle ceremony.

Coming back and closing

Slowly the experience softens. The music gets quieter and, step by step, you come back into the room. There's time: nobody needs to be anywhere. If you want to talk, you can. If you need silence, that's fine too.

The day closes with a moment to share, in the group as a circle. You share what you want to share, nothing more. It helps you give what you went through a first place. After that you head home quietly. Don't drive yourself that day, and keep the evening free.

How long is a truffle ceremony?

A truffle ceremony at Stars Frequencies takes about 7 hours, from arrival to closing. That includes settling in, the meditation and sound healing, the ceremony itself and the slow return.

On top of that, count on needing rest that evening and ideally the next day as well. Many participants describe a light, clear mood, while others mostly feel tired. How that feels for people is covered in how you feel after a truffle ceremony.

Group or private: what's the difference?

The structure of the day is the same. The difference is who's around you. Stars Frequencies guides truffle ceremonies in Amsterdam in a small group of at most 8 people (€295 per person, the most chosen option) or privately (€495). For a duo or your own group, each extra person gets 20% off: €891 together for two, €1,287 for three and €1,683 for four.

Many people find a group supportive, because everyone is in their own experience. If you'd rather have all the attention on you, read when a private truffle ceremony suits you.

Questions about the truffle ceremony experience

Am I alone during the ceremony?

Do I need to prepare for a truffle ceremony?

Can I drive after the ceremony?

No, don't drive yourself that day. Arrange transport there and back, or have someone pick you up. Your body and mind need rest after the ceremony, including on the way home.

What if I have a difficult moment during the ceremony?

A difficult moment doesn't mean the ceremony is going wrong. Rosa is in the room for the whole ceremony, sits with you and helps you not to push it away. In the intro call you talk beforehand about what makes you nervous, so Rosa can take it into account.

Start with a quiet intro call?
