Truffle Ceremony

Is a truffle ceremony right for me? An honest answer

By Rosaupdated 8 min read

Is a truffle ceremony right for me? Often yes if you live in your head, want to feel again and are willing to spend a day with yourself, and no if you or a close relative has a history of psychosis or schizophrenia, you take certain medication, you are pregnant or you are in an acute crisis. At Stars Frequencies in Amsterdam you talk this through first in a free 30-minute intro call with screening, and then join a small group of at most 8 people (€295 per person) or a private ceremony (€495).

Is a truffle ceremony right for me if I mostly live in my head?

The fact that you are asking says something. Most people scroll past a post about a ceremony and keep going. You stopped. Often that's because something in your life doesn't quite fit, even if you can't put your finger on what.

Maybe some of this sounds familiar. You function: work gets done, your relationships hold, you show up where you said you would. From the outside it looks fine. On the inside it feels flat, or busy, or both. You overthink. You see a pattern that keeps coming back, at work or in how you deal with people, and you understand it perfectly well. Understanding it just doesn't change it.

Many of the people who come to Rosa run their lives from their heads. They plan, analyse and keep everything under control. It has taken them a long way. Somewhere along the way, though, they lost touch with what they feel, and they want that back. If this sounds like you, a truffle ceremony in Amsterdam is worth considering seriously.

“In the end I took the step anyway, because I finally wanted to feel again instead of only think. I had been in my head for so long that I no longer knew what was underneath.”
Daniel · Website, translated from Dutch

Being stuck is usually quiet

Being stuck is rarely dramatic. There is no breaking point and no crisis. It's more of a stillness: this pattern, this tiredness, this sense that nothing is moving while everything around you carries on. It was like this a year ago too. It doesn't go away on its own.

That isn't because you haven't tried. Maybe you've talked to people, read the books, taken a long holiday. It helped, just not enough. What you're looking for often sits underneath your thinking, and you don't reach it by thinking harder. How a ceremony compares to talking with a psychologist is covered in truffle ceremony vs therapy.

Socrates called his way of working the art of the midwife. He didn't hand out answers. He asked questions until people saw for themselves what was already there. You can look at a ceremony the same way. Rosa won't tell you what your problem is or what to do about it. The day gives you room, rest and attention, and whatever comes up is yours.

Who a truffle ceremony suits

A truffle ceremony often suits you if a few of these ring true:

  • You live in your head a lot and want to feel what sits underneath all that thinking.
  • You're willing to spend a day with yourself, even without knowing what will come up.
  • You're looking for calm and safety, not adventure.
  • You want to make time for preparation, and for what shifts in your life afterwards.
  • You have an intention, even a simple one, like: I want to see what's there.

You don't need to be spiritual. Plenty of participants describe themselves as down to earth or sceptical. About half of the participants are doing it for the first time. No experience needed.

Afraid of losing control? That's no reason to walk away. The view at Stars Frequencies: letting go is not a condition. It is a result. Meditation and sound healing with singing bowls are a fixed part of every ceremony, and Rosa is in the room for the whole ceremony. From that calm, letting go often happens by itself, at your own pace. If you're still hesitating, read hesitating about a truffle ceremony.

“I found it easy to release control and give myself over to the process. The setting and safe space that Rosa created made that possible.”
Martijn · Website, translated from Dutch

Who should not do a truffle ceremony?

You should not do a truffle ceremony if you or a close relative has ever had psychosis or schizophrenia, if you take certain medication such as lithium or MAO inhibitors, if you are pregnant, or if you are in an acute crisis right now. That isn't a judgement about you. It's a boundary that exists to protect you.

Taking other medication, antidepressants for example? Mention it in the intro call and talk to your doctor. Never taper anything off on your own just to be able to join. And if you're unsure whether something in your history counts, bring it up anyway. Better one question too many than a risk nobody saw.

Everything is discussed in the free 30-minute intro call, which includes a screening: Rosa asks about your health, your medication and why you're considering a ceremony. If it isn't right for you now, she'll tell you honestly. Sometimes that means not now, maybe later. Sometimes it means this isn't your path. You can read how the screening works on the safety and screening page.

How do you know you're ready?

Being ready rarely feels like certainty. It feels more like willingness. You don't need to know what will happen, and you don't need to get rid of your nerves first. Doubt is normal. Fear is normal. Neither rules out being ready.

What does help is knowing how the day works, what you can do beforehand and who will be next to you. The day takes about 7 hours. Meditation and sound healing help you settle into your body first. How to prepare is explained on the preparation page.

Never meditated before? You don't have to have. The ceremony asks for no knowledge and no experience, only openness. And if you're worried you'll feel very little, read what if I feel little during a ceremony.

What participants describe afterwards

What people describe after a ceremony varies. Some feel calmer or clearer. Others suddenly see a pattern from a distance, or feel something that had been gone for a long time. It isn't a promise, it's what participants tell us themselves. You can read their stories on the experiences page.

“The preparation was so careful. The intro call put me at ease straight away. During the ceremony I felt held the whole time. Thank you, Rosa.”
Merel · Website, translated from Dutch

What you do with it afterwards makes a difference. Quietly reflecting on what came up, talking about it with someone you trust and giving it a place in your daily life is called integration. There's more on that in what integration is.

The smallest next step

If you've read this far, you probably have a sense of the answer already. Not certainty, but a direction. The smallest step is a free 30-minute intro call. Rosa asks questions, you ask questions, and by the end you both know whether this is the right moment.

Stars Frequencies guides truffle ceremonies in Amsterdam, in a small group of at most 8 people (€295 per person, the most chosen option) or privately (€495). Coming as a pair or with your own group? Each extra person gets 20% off, so a duo pays €891 together. The full overview is on the prices page.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about whether a truffle ceremony is right for you

How do I know if a truffle ceremony is right for me?

A truffle ceremony is often right for you if you live in your head, want to feel again and are willing to spend a day with yourself. Whether it's responsible and worthwhile in your situation is something you talk through in the free 30-minute intro call, which includes a screening with questions about your health and medication.

Do I need to be spiritual to join a truffle ceremony?

No, you don't need to be spiritual. Many participants call themselves down to earth or sceptical and are mainly looking for calm, clarity or a way back to what they feel. About half of the participants are doing it for the first time. No experience needed.

What if I'm afraid nothing will happen?

That fear is understandable, and many people have it alongside the fear that too much will happen. Every ceremony unfolds differently, and a quiet day can still show you a lot. In the intro call Rosa talks with you about what you expect and how to relate to the outcome, whatever it turns out to be.

Is a truffle ceremony a replacement for therapy?

No, a truffle ceremony is not a replacement for therapy or for any other medical or psychological help. It's a guided day with room for rest, reflection and personal growth. If you're seeing a psychologist or doctor, discuss your plans with them and tell Rosa in the intro call.

Start with a quiet intro call?

The intro call takes 30 minutes and is free, with no obligation. You ask your questions, and Rosa tells you honestly what to expect and whether a ceremony fits you right now.
